According to local press reports two people were killed over the weekend in what police said could have been triggered by wrangles in, and between, mining companies in the area. Among those killed is Major (retired) John Sengati, the manager of John Sengati Limited, a mining company dealing in coltan. The other victim was identified as Emmanuel Hitabatuma, who deals in sand.
The location appeared to be in the Kamyoni district in the west of Kigali and the police have arrested 4 members of the John Sengati Limited company.
